who I am

I'm a native South Tyrolean who after having lived in Italy, the US, and Austria ended up in Geneva (Switzerland) for graduate school in 1998. More than ten years later I am still here. I finished graduate school,  found a job and married my wife Ashley whom I met here in Geneva.

Growing up in different countries does not only mean that you learn different languages and get acquainted with different cultures, it also means that your friends and family are scattered all over the world. That, in turn, translates to high long distance phone bills :-( and lots of frequent flyer miles :-). Add that to the fact that Ashley is from Tucson, AZ and that her family and many of her friends still live there, and you get a pretty good idea of how much time the two of us spend traveling.

When I don't work I like spending time outside. Both of us love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, biking and skiing. I have been on skis for as long as I can remember and Ashley, who just started, is getting better every year.

On a sunny summer weekend you'll probably find us down by the lake (Lake Geneva), whereas in the fall or winter we’re probably out hiking.
